British Embassy organizes 1st Sir John Addis Memorial Lecture

The British embassy organized the first Sir John Addis Memorial Lecture on October 26th to celebrate Lao-UK fashion links. Sir John Addis was British Ambassador to Laos from 1960 to 1962 and was a passionate collector of Lao silks and textiles. His collection, which includes hand-woven Lao sinhs, sarongs, bags, belts, etc., is now part of the famous Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
The lecture was held at the beautiful and well-preserved Lao Textile Museum in Ban Nong Tha Tai. In his keynote speech, Daniel Marcus, a British textile expert and head of Soie de Lune, talked about the history, authenticity and beauty of Lao textiles.
